Weekend wrap up

In Friday’s first main event at TV5 Em Vutha outclassed Leap Somnang through five rounds and took the decision at 57kg. In the second fight Nuon Chumut faced Kao Bunheng at 60kg. Chumut fought well but after five rounds the decision went to the stronger, more effective Bunheng.

On Saturday at CTN Nuon Mony lost to Sung Savun by (a questionable) decision at 60kg.

On Sunday at CTN two 67kg fights saw Chea Serak face Pow Puet and Ung Dara face Chey Ratana. Pow Puet dropped Serak in the second with a kick to the head. Serak answered the 8 count only to eat a straight left hand that ended the fight. Pow Puet by TKO in the 2nd. In the second match rising star Ung Dara steamrolled Chey Ratana. Dara 8-counted Ratana twice in the second — once by a straight right, once by an uppercut — and twice again in the third — knee, elbow — before the referee jumped in and stopped the carnage. Ung Dara by TKO in the 3rd.

At TV5 Heng Samran lost by decision to Sway Rithy and Long Sophy drew against Wan Chan Way. Both fights were held at 60kg. The latter decision sparked catcalls and a few hurled water bottles from the crowd, many of whom thought that Wan Chan Way had clearly earned the decision.
