Angkor Youth Boxing Club
Paddy's Fitness Centre is the home of the Angkor Youth Boxing Club.
Paddy Carson is the head coach. Khum Socheat is the assistance coach.
The team trains every day from about 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Traditional English boxing is still emerging as a sport in Cambodia, and while there are a few "pure" boxers on the team, the majority are pradal serey fighters.
Pradal Serey
Pradal serey translates to "freestyle boxing." It's often called Khmer boxing, kick boxing, or just fighting, In Cambodia, pradal serey defines the fight game.
The style of pradal serey dates to the Angkorean period, and carvings at Angkor Wat depict scenes of pradal serey's deadly battlefield predecessor, Bokator.
Fighters compete regularly at the CTN television stadium, and sometimes at the TV5 stadium. If you are interested in fighting -- or just fight training -- contact the gym.
